I am Md Atiqur Rahman Ahad, PhD, SMIEEE, SMOPTICA,
Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of East London, UK.
I have held academic positions internationally, including at Kyushu Institute of Technology,
Aoyama Gakuin University, and The University of Osaka in Japan, UCSI University in Malaysia,
and the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
As a research leader and enabler, I mentor colleagues, build interdisciplinary teams,
and drive research excellence that delivers societal and economic impact.
I have led major infrastructure bids, secured substantial competitive funding for research, innovation,
and knowledge exchange, and developed a £9.7M strategic pipeline across UKRI, NIHR, local government,
industry, and international partners.
I focus on AI for healthcare, societal wellbeing, and responsible innovation.
My focus is on growing interdisciplinary strength, elevating REF performance, and
transforming academic excellence into measurable societal benefit.
